Psychotherapy is a controlled act as defined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, and is regulated provincially. Sara Is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. While counselling is an unregulated profession, Sara is also registered as a Canadian Certified Counselling, and can provide services to most provinces across Canada.

In Ontario, psychotherapy is defined as the assessment and treatment of cognitive, emotional, or behavioural challenges through empirically studied psychotherapeutic interventions, delivered via a therapeutic relationship based on verbal or non-verbal communication. It is a collaborative process aimed at treating serious disorders of thought, mood, or memory.

Sara Brooks is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, offering therapy to individuals and couples with a particular focus on musician mental health. She understands firsthand the unique pressures of a career in the arts and how creative work can impact overall wellbeing. Drawing on her lived experience as a freelance musician and post-secondary educator, Sara integrates artistic insight with evidence-based psychotherapy training.

Sara holds a Doctor of Music in Choral Conducting, along with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Performance. She also holds a Masters of Counselling Psychology. Her clinical work supports clients navigating anxiety (including performance anxiety), depression, perinatal mental health, religious trauma, and grief.

Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client’s needs. Modalities she incorporates include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT/EFIT).
